– turbine oils
– metalworking oils
– polyglycols
– industrial gear oils
– natural and synthetic esters
Additin® RC 7201 is a crystalline antioxidant belonging to the group of sterically hindered, non-discolouring
phenols. The field of application of this universal oxidation inhibitor includes most types of lubricants. Especially where long term oil temperature exceeds 90°C in open and 120°C in closed systems.
The combination of Additin® RC 7201 with aminic antioxidants, e.g. Additin® RC 7135 LD and/or copper
deactivators, e.g. Additin® RC 8221, is leading to more extensive oxidation inhibiting properties.
Due to crystallization process infrared spectra of Additin RC 7201 may show differences from batch to batch. This
is not considered as quality issue and does not effect the utilizability. The differences disappear after
recrystallization.
Additin® RC 7201 is in compliance with § 178.3570 according to U.S. Food and Drug administration regulations
(lubricants with incidental food contact).
This product is acceptable as an ingredient for use in lubricants with incidental food contact (HX-1) for use in and
around food processing areas. Such compounds may be used on food processing equipment as a protective antirust
film, as a release agent on gaskets or seals of tank closures, and as a lubricant for machine parts and
equipment in locations in which there is a potential exposure of the lubricated part to food. The amount used
should be the minimum required to accomplish the desired technical effect on the equipment. If used as an antirust
film, the compound must be removed from the equipment surface by washing or wiping, as required to leave
the surface effectively free of any substance which could be transferred to food being processed.
Limitation: This ingredient is acceptable for use only as an antioxidant in lubricants at a level not to exceed 0.5 % by weight of the lubricant.
Formulations containing NSF Registered ingredients are not considered to be NSF Registered products (e.g. H-1
or H-2 lubricants). A separate application is required for each final product. If you would like to apply for a NSF
Registration of your lubricant you need only identify our trade name Additin® RC 7201, the NSF Registration
Number, and concentration within the finished product on the application form.
Additin® RC 7201 can be applied for all industrial uses of lubricants and is well-known for stabilizing vegetable
and animal fats. For that reason and from field experience Additin® RC 7201 is recommended to stabilize
biodegradable lubricants such as rapeseed oil and synthetic esters.
The chemical purity of Additin® RC 7201 meets food grade quality and can be used in most of all applications, but
it is not qualified for direct use in food stuff, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and animal feed.
Solubility
Additin® RC 7201 is easily soluble in most ester base stocks but only limited soluble in mineral oils. However, it is
necessary to verify the solubility in the base oils used and the compatibility with other additives.
