Type

Ashless, low acidic corrosion inhibitor

Application

– hydraulic fluids and offshore finishing fluids
– greases and offshore connector lubricants
– industrial gear oils and offshore wind mill gear oils
– mould release oils
– rust preventative oils
– for all applications in environmentally sensitive areas

Additin RC 4803 is a succinic acid derivative with a low acid number. Due to its special chemical structure
performs already at low dosage rates as a particularly effective anticorrosion additive. Furthermore the product
exhibits outstanding environmental properties such as salt water degradability and minimal effect on the sea water
food chain (more information see MSDS). Hence Additin RC 4803 is particularly suitable to formulate products for
the use in environmentally sensitive areas such as Offshore.

Additin RC 4803 can be used as a corrosion inhibitor where metal-containing anticorrosion additives are not
desirable, environmental and toxicological aspects must be considered or the acid number should be as low as
possible.

In Group I base oil as little as 0.03% b.w. is necessary to pass ASTM-D 665B steel corrosion test.

Additin RC 4803 shows outstanding performance in esters. A dosage rate of 0.1% of Additin RC 4803 in rape oil
is enough to pass the ASTM-D 665B test. At higher treat rates e.g. 1.0 – 10.0 % by weight Additin RC 4803 can be
used for the formulation of rust preventative oils. In these applications the anticor- rosion properties of Additin RC
4803 exceed the performance of standard calcium or barium sulphonates.

Solubility

Soluble in mineral oils and synthetic base oils. However, it is necessary to verify the solubility in the base oils
used and the compatibility with other additives.

Storage conditions

In a dry place at room temperature approx. 24 months.

Handling

Consult material safety data sheet (MSDS) for additional handling information on Additin RC 4803.
