Additin RC 7120 is a phenolic antioxidant with a wide field of application in lubricants. The recommended treat level in mineral oil is in the range of 0.2 and 0.6 % by weight. The oxidation stability of other base fluids, e.g. fatty oils, esters or polyglycols can also be strongly increased by Additin RC 7120 at dosages of 0.5 – 1.5 % by weight.

Additin RC 7120 is showing synergistic effects in combination with Additin RC 7130 (aminic) or Additin RC 7135 LD (aminic) and RC 8221 (Cu-inhibitor). After heating over its melting point and cooling afterwards Additin RC 7120 can form undercooled melts, which could stay liquid for some days but could crystallize more or less quickly after agitation or in contact with seed crystals.

Solubility

Soluble in mineral oils and synthetic base oils. However, it is necessary to verify the solubility in the base oils used and the compatibility with other additives.
