Spotlight on the Lanxess Hybase® portfolio

The Lanxess Hybase® portfolio offers grease feed specifically designed for thickening Calcium Sulfonate Complex grease with operational batch-to-batch yield consistency and finished grease performance. Now available to all KRAHN UK customers are two recently launched Lanxess Hybase detergent products, Hybase GFX-500 and Hybase C-502. These overbased sulfonates are ideal for grease design and performance flexibility beyond typical overbased calcium sulfonate products.
Overbased detergents are additives designed to clean the metal surfaces within a fired engine and prevent the build-up of deposits. The insoluble by-products of the combustion process are removed by the detergents in the lubricants. Detergents find extensive use in marine, passenger car motor oil and heavy duty diesel applications. In addition to cleaning the metal surfaces within a fired engine, overbased detergents also help neutralize acidic combustion by-products to prevent corrosion within the engine.
Hybase GFX-500 : This is a 500TBN oil soluable overbased calcium sulfonate designed to produce a high quality NSF HX-1 approval for use in food safe lubricants and greases. It is a made with an approved white oil and provides greater flexibility in base oil composition and viscosity in the final grease formulation. If properly formulated and processed, the grease will have a high dropping point, excellent water resistance, extreme pressure performance, antiwear performance and excellent shear stability.
Hybase C-502: is designed as a concentrated, 500 TBN detergent and grease feed, offering a comparable performance to conventional 400TBN materials at a lower concentration. This means reduced pressure on inventory control and space management whilst reducing the handling requirements in production without impacting product yield. Hybase C-502 is typically used as a detergent and rust inhibitor in crankcase lubricants. It is designed as both a stand alone detergent as well as in conjunction with other detergent types such as calcium phenate.
